様々な樹木を細かくカットし寄せ合わせることで作る伝統工芸「箱根寄木細工」に、現代のデザインを加え新しい
形で表現されている“OTA MOKKO”太田憲さん。
各地から集められたこだわりの樹種を、伝統工芸のイメージを覆す、緻密で美しい作品に仕上げます。
お土産物のイメージを払拭させるような、作り手のこだわりの詰まった寄木細工はもはや芸術の領域。
普段使いの道具でありながら、緻密な計算の上に出来上がる寄木作品は、見る人の目を奪います。
Yosegi-zaiku are sometimes regarded as just local souvenir but OTA’s works, which are filled with his emotion and techniques, dispel such notion.
They are goods for everyday use but have been developed into “fine arts”. Wood mosaic patterns based on elaborate calculations dazzle all who see them.

道具箱は、その名の通り文房具類やアクセサリー等、特別なものをしまっておく為の蓋付きの箱です。
まるで玉手箱のような、重厚感のある作り。
Toolboxes, with lids, are intended for storing stationary, accessories and any private stuff. Standard Japanese post cards can be stored.
“Composition”シリーズは、寄木細工の文様をいくつものパターンを組み合わせてできています。
ひとつの柄だけにとどまらず、複数の文様や色のパターンを1つの道具箱の中で楽しめる特別感のある仕様です。
Lineup of works in the “Composition” series are specially designed with more complexity than regular products. Multiple patterns and colors are put together in one tray.
木材はすべて何百種類とある木材から選び抜かれた、無着色の木材です。
幾何学模様と緻密な色合いの組み合わせはふと想像しただけでも気が遠くなります。
Material woods are carefully selected from several hundred trees. No coloring.
Complex geometric designs and a variety of hues create immeasurable combinations.

一見、凹凸があるように見える寄木細工ですが、きちんと平らに処理されており、ウレタンのコーティングが施されているので、液体をこぼしてもさっと拭けば問題ありません。
繊細なつくりでありながら、実用性も兼ね備えています。
The surface of yosegi-zaiku looks uneven but it is leveled and coated with urethan to have a water repellent effect.
If you spill drinks on it, just dry it off with a cloth. OTA MOKKO’s works combine both artistry and practicality.
